Originally from Lynchburg, Virginia, violinist Marilyn Marks Taylor earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music in 2012, and her Master of Music degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2014, where she served as concertmaster of the CIM orchestra.
Marilyn has always loved chamber music, and has dedicated much of her time to enhancing her ensemble skills at various summer programs, including the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Castleman Quartet Program, and the Vocal Arts and Music Festival at Virginia Tech. During her undergraduate studies, Marilyn performed in the Honors Chamber Music Recital in the spring of 2011 and 2012, was selected to perform in the first annual Eastman Graduation Chamber Music Recital, and was a member of the Eastman Intensive Chamber Music Seminar. Marilyn has studied chamber music with members of the Vermeer, Audubon, Cavani, Ying, and Chiara String Quartets, as well as world-renowned pianist, Gustavo Romero.
Marilyn currently teaches at Birchwood School, in addition to performing with the Akron, Firelands, and Cleveland Pops Orchestras, and managing a private studio. She is trained and registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas and is certified through Unit 4 of the Suzuki Violin literature. Marilyn currently resides in Cleveland Heights, Ohio with her husband, violinist Julian Taylor.
