Julian Taylor has always been a creative and diverse musician, breaking down the distinctive barriers among different genres of music. He received his training both at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he received his Master’s in Violin Performance in 2010. Though his training has been largely classical, he also has interests in jazz, fiddle, Latin, hip-hop, electronic, and many other styles of music.

Some of Julian’s notable musical ventures have been founding The ViOS Project, an original electro-acoustic ensemble. Not only is all the music original arrangements written by Julian, but he also produced the group’s first album in 2014, entitled “Holy,” and has begun to give concerts around the Great Lakes area. In addition, Julian is also the worship director and creative mind behind the artistic church service, “Aspire,” an outreach of Cleveland Heights Church, where he works full-time. In addition to maintaining a full private teaching studio, his current musical aspirations have been in composition and performance, writing many original pieces and arrangements, which contain elements of classical instrumentation, folk music, and electronic audio practices.

Recently, Julian and his wife Marilyn Taylor became Program Directors of Coda Mountain Academy’s Summer Music Festival. Julian first joined Coda as a violin faculty member in 2010, and has been a part of the summer program ever since. Because of Coda’s originality and diversity, it has been able to provide a perfect platform to not only showcase his unique musical interests but to share his passions and expertise with the bright and talented students of the next generation. Moving into an educational leadership position rightly seems to be the next logical step in his musical career, combining his talents and belief in excellent education to help today’s youth thrive in our modern world.
